Summer Reading List

Well Summer's almost over and the list hasn't even been created.  If you're from Mississippi though, summer last until November. I've still got time.

When working with Invisible Children I was always recommended so many books, but never had the time to pick one up.  Here's my wish list of books I want to read before the end of 2012.

On the Road by Jack Kerouac

John Adams by David McCullough

Searching for God Knows What by Donald Miller

Love Does by Bob Goff

Runaway Jury by John Grisham
(only because my PoliSci class requires it)

That should last me until the end of "summer", right?
I sure hope so.

Happy reading!

Day 1

See this face? It's the face of someone who does not want to give up her comfy place on the couch to workout.

Why can't I just wish myself in shape? Now that's something someone needs to invent. "Stay in bed, be lazy and still be in shape." I assure you it'd be a best seller.

But since I made an oath I should persevere and keep it.
I've been staying at my mom's house for the past week which means no access to a gym and no food. (My mom's always been the worst at grocery shopping.) We do have cereal though.

Breakfast:
Special K cereal with 2% milk.
I admit it's not the best thing ever for a girl looking to get in shape, but at least it's better than those cinnamon rolls in the fridge.

In terms of working out, I plan to do yoga and, if the weather allows, a 20 minute run.
I love working out. I love working out. I love working out.

Affirmations are the way to go.

Beautiful Things/Summer Playlist

Itunes is a dangerous world for me. I impulsively buy songs and don't realize I've spent $30 on music until my bank statement comes in. (Yoinks!) I've been trying to control these impulse buys, but I stand firm in the fact that music is worth it. I like supporting bands rather than pirating.

Anyways, during bible study a few weeks ago we got on the topic of the band Gungor. I had never heard of them, but was curious. I mean, who doesn't love new music?
Needless to say, I'm in love.

There is such truth written perfectly in each lyric, each note, and their passion for the Lord is evident throughout the album.
Take a listen, you won't regret it.

I start school in 40 days which doesn't leave much time for much else since I'm working a lot this Summer. I think a "Summer List" is appropriate to make so I can at least have some organization for the remainder of my break. School time always catches me by surprise and in 40 days I will be back to writing papers, studying, and taking tests. Yuck.
I'm on to you Summer break.

-read as many books as possible (I need a reading list)
-go camping
-canoeing/kayaking
-finally make that journal that's been sitting on my desk for a month
-thrift/make some nifty clothes for the new school year
-GO TO ONE CONCERT
(every concert I've planned to go to has failed)
-start running again

I can't believe I'm going to be a Junior in college.

xoxo, Gabby

sweet home alabama

I spent this past weekend in Alabama with my sweet family. The trip was a total success.
I loved on Blue, ate lots of carrot cake (only 1 cup of sugar in the whole thing! I'm still amazed at how yummy it was), got a major sunburn, finished Blue Like Jazz, took 140 pictures (in 2 days, I get trigger happy sometimes), snacked on some perfect summer salsa, and did some serious, much needed relaxation.
I love summer vacations.

I hope your summer is going well!
Tell me about it.

P.S. I scored the most perfect vintage bike for only $26! She's a fixer-upper, but I'm so excited about this summer project.

So much to say

My sister's birthday was yesterday and she turned a whopping age of 12.
She's probably the coolest, most stylish 12 year old around. Seriously.
Happy Birthday little sister!

This week has gone by so terribly fast and I've been swamped in school work!
But I made time for a little fun on Tuesday!
Sir, Scott, and I all went to The Thirsty Hippo in downtown Hattiesburg to see Local Natives.
It was well worth the dancing drunk girls, no sleep, and cold night air.

Local Natives is possibly one of my favorite bands at the moment and they proved to me even more WHY I like them so.
It was spectacular and I simply cannot wait to see them again.

Summer is just around the corner, 2 weeks for me, and I can't wait for camping days, crafting with my boyfriend, and LAS VEGAS.
My parents, sister, and I are taking a trip to Las Vegas in July.
I've never been before, but I am sure it will be so much fun!
Hopefully we can squeeze in a road trip to Cali!

This Thursday has been good to me.
Lunch at PDI's with my boyfriend.
A on my Biology exam.
and to top off my day, a red velvet cake snow cone.
nomnomnom.

The Lord is good and I hope your day is wonderful as well.

I'm on the lookout

For a cute cottage/house/apartment in Hattiesburg, preferably in downtown or SUPER close to USM. Hopefully this search will be successful.

Exciting news for Anchor & Sparrow!
We will have a booth at the Laurel, Mississippi Farmers Market in June and I am SO excited.Things are starting to look up for us as our clientele is steadily increasing.
Everyone seems to love our products and seeing them happy makes me happy.

And I must say that I have the cutest family/friends ever.See for yourself.

To-do list for the day:
-American Lit. homework
-Schedule Literature final
-Study for Sociology test
-Read All Quiet on the Western Front by Friday @ 9:30

School, I will be so happy when you're done for on May 14th.
Summer is just around the corner.
I hope to go hiking, camping, and attend many concerts.

What do you have planned for the summer?
