my cup is half full

Actually, it is overflowing with joy as the lyrics "I exalt thee, I exalt thee, I exalt thee, Oh Lord" fill the room while I chomp on some Oreos. I seem to forget the power and beauty of his name and I love when he reminds me; it's a love note.

Here lately I've been dwelling on what school I am going to next fall and it seems like every day a new opportunity arises; New York University, Pennsylvania, Belmont, Samford, Ole Miss. The possibilities are inevitably endless. Everyone wants to get out of their small, old town don't they? This has been my plan ever since I was 14 years old, but now it seems like my plan is not THE plan. God is showing me wonderful things about small town Laurel, Mississippi and I'm falling in love with this town. So maybe it will be Southern Miss next fall with one of my best friends, or maybe NYU with my dad, and quite possibly Pennsylvania with Brooke Cole. Who knows. I surely don't.

Have a nice night, and an oreo.. after all, they are milks favorite cookie.

xoxo-Gabby

  1. I was in your very same shoes at Jones. Was going to Savannah College of Art, then Ben happened. :)

  2. i think every laurel native has been there, kid. when i was 17, i couldn't wait to get out of that town and spread my wings... really start my life, you know? and i did... i left, things were awesome, chad happened (who's also from laurel), i discovered that usm was the only place that had a master's in pr, so i moved back to laurel. when i finished my master's, i got married and we just stayed. and it was literally the best thing that happened to me. the young people population has grown tremendously over the last 3 years, and there are some really awesome things happening there.

we moved to starkville last summer, and we love it here, but there are days when i still long for my friends, my family and a hot cup of coffee at lee's. i think every person desperately needs to get out of their hometown... if only for a little while. but it's never a bad thing to go back. after all, home is where the heart is.
